I don't think the nut is all that big of a deal, but it's not expensive to change out for bone or corian or graphite, whatever. I am chomping at the bit for my strat to arrive. Waiting is not my best practice, lol. I'm not good at waiting. I want my strat!! Ha Ha.

How are you liking those pickups? I have a friend who has a strat with those and they sound great, except the bridge pickup sounds a bit weak and sterile to us. I don't think they are the same ones you have, ...his has 3 different colors of the title "Lace Sensor" on the pup cover. And, they are newer.

I'm amazed at how nice your fretboard works. Guess I will be wanting some of that fret doctor stuff you mentioned. That looks awesome.
I have no problem with the roller nut. I would leave it alone if I were you. The pick ups rock. On the bridge I turn the TBX control to cut the highs a tad and it sounds great.

I don't plan on changing the roller nut out, ha ha. I was responding to the posts kinda looking down on the roller nut in yours! lol All personal preference anyway.

I have no clue what pickups will be in mine, but they are standard pole piece looking pickups, ...and I have no idea what to expect from the electronics/pots. But, all that is easily replaced.

My big struggle at the moment is whether or not to keep single coils in it or slap my new rail buckers in there from my project strat. (may part this one out to recoup some money, ...but the warmoth neck on it is so sweet that I'm second guessing myself now, lol)

Thanks for the tip, man!

However, said guitar is very, very expensive for what it is. Even with the very strong GBP, there are two in a guitar shop near me for £550 each. One is in gold flake

Yes, the older Lace pups sound great. I have read that the current ones are somehow supposed to be different, but I don't know.

My '89 has the red/silver/blue Lace.

My 93 Plus Deluxe has those also. The blue doesn't have that "tube" sound I dig like the gold does.

Re: NGD 88' Strat Plus

Cosmic, I can't believe I'm just seeing this thread, congrats!. The gold lace sensors are the ones I like for the classic strat sound. As an fyi for adjustment on those bad boys, Fender says that you can have them as high as you want, without fearing hums or interference. I might have a catalog at home that shows yours, i'm going to look it up later and see what I find.

I do want to find an ultra with the ebony neck and a stock kick-ass paint job on it, along with the locking floyd.

Congrats again!

Jimmy

Re: NGD 88' Strat Plus

Upgrade time for my Strat Plus. Gonna get a Fender Floyd Rose, New Wilk nut polished chrome (old one has ruff spot on roller), and White Pearloid Pickguard with blackknobs and tip. Thanks to an act of god and insurance not covering tree removal I am probally gonna have to sell my Strat Plus deluxe to avoid dipping into my fun funds account. Thanks for the falling tree God, really appreciate it

Here some pics of the soon to be done upgrads.

Re: NGD 88' Strat Plus

I thought about putting on a pearloid guard too but backed out. Rght now I have a set of Hot Noiseless pickups comming, a Vintage RS Kits wiring set and a Stew Mac Mega E Switch on their way. I ordered a second pickguard so if I ever wanted to go back to the Lace Sensors and JB Jr I could just replace the pickguard and have it in five minutes, then I could switch back and forth whenever I want.

Im thinking about replacing the bridge too, something about it doesnt seem right, or I may just put in 5 springs and lock it down.
