NGD Tokai Love Rock

Ok, i just got this...

I know it's not an Ibanez, but I didn't want to stray too much from the fold so it is at least Japanese...

Now all I have to do is the infamous "Jimmy Page" wiring... (which being a wiring nerd I have of course improved from the original )

Nigel Tufnel: The sustain, listen to it.
Marty DiBergi: I don't hear anything.
Nigel Tufnel: Well you would though, if it were playing.

New couch pic must surely follow...

Re: NGD Tokai Love Rock

We, I'd heard of them of course from like the 80s, but a friend of mine who's a real Les Paul nut recommended it. In fact he has a 70s Les Paul custom which he almost never plays preferring his 90s Love Rock...

Can't speak for a real Gibbo but for just less that twice the cost of an Epiphone, it seems really really well made!

Congratz on the guitar mate. How old is it? Sure seems to be in VGC. Tokai do make good guitars. I've seen lots of their models changing hands for considerable sums of money. They seem to be becoming much sought after online recently, definitely attracting a lot of interest on other forums/ads that I have seen.

I love Tokai LRs I think they're great. I'm not really into the LP shape though as it doesn't suit my playing style, but... if I was to get an LP style, it would be a Tokai.

Sweet!!!! How heavy is it compared to a Gibson?
I have never heard of Tokai guitars. I'll look them up. Iwonder if they are available in the U.S.?
That is a good looking guitar.

Re: NGD Tokai Love Rock

Sorry for lack of replies...
The guitar is brand new, Here's the web page I bought it from
http://www.richtonemusic.co.uk/guita...-drop-639.html
Paypal and Next day delivery, excellent service.
Actually went to a local shop and asked them to get me one, but they took so long checking if they could order one and then offered me a different model in a different colour for more money! Needless to say I declined and had to go mail order. No wonder shops are struggling...

Compared to the real thing, it may be heavier as it solid wood without the chambering Gibson use in some models.

I'd say the quality was pretty high, obviously the finish is nicely done. When I got it home and took off the control cover to see if the pickups are 2 or 4 wire I found the soldering and layout was very neatly done, Japanese pots too!

I want to put some push pulls in to allow some more single coil like tones and I will need to replace the pickups as they are 2 wire (probably go for Bareknuckle PG Blues set), otherwise I'd probably leave them stock, they sound fine as is.

Cheers,
Jim
