Nice guitar, but the body shape is strange (upper cutaway).

Looks like a standard Strat shape to me...tho the colours in the first pic trick your eyes a bit at first, and the second one the angle's funny.

The Bowling Ball Strats are pretty interesting. I like the fact that they were Darren's first real swirl jobs. Some nice history behind them! The body IS a standard Strat. Nothing unique about the shape itself. However, the bridge/trem is a top-mounted Schaller unit, so there's routing done to the back of the guitar at all. Also, as you can see, the output jack replaced the second "Tone" control on the '83-84 Strats. For some reason, my Bowling Ball Strat is quite a bit heavier than my other '83 Strat was.

I like my swirl a bit better than the one in the pic. Mine's got a rosewood fingerboard (which I prefer over the maple) and I've changed my pickguard from the original white single-ply to a B/W/B. The guitar had a Duncan Hot Rails in the bridge when I got it, and it actually sounds decent, so I haven't swapped it out with the original pickup yet.
