OFR Trem Arm Unscrew.

I normally play guitars equipped with Ibanez trems (push in arm) but have recently acquired a guitar equipped with an OFR which has a collar that screws over the arm to hold it in.
I recently gigged the guitar and the collar kept unscrewing causing me to constantly be screwing it up whilst playing.

Am I doing something wrong here?

Kind Regards
Paul

No, you're not doing anything wrong. Screw in arms are a total pain, and that's just how it is.

never had a problem with any Schallers or OFRs unscrewing and I can't say I really crank down on the collars.. you could always stop by a hardware store and inquire about any "threadlock" compounds that might just give more traction to the threads.

Use some plumbers tape, that would probably solve the problem for you. Put it on the thread on the trem and screw the trem arm on.

Re: OFR Trem Arm Unscrew.

You probably like your bar very tight. With the original floyd/schaller/floyd 2 bar type youll have a few problems. Their are some different designs of the bars of course. Peavey actually has a good one on their import wolfgangs. The bar has a nice nylon/rubber whatever material washer that keeps things snug, in place of the metal bar and washer that often warp and wear out in the most common version seen on original floyd rose tremolos

Use plumbers tape and that'll be the end of your problem i got and OFR as well and had the same problem as you, i wraped some plumbers tape around the screw on the trem, and that solved my problem.
