OLP guitars - Heard of them?

I was in town the other day to check out a used JS1. I was probably going to buy it if I could talk the store down a few quid but lo and behold it was gone so I go the other store which had a JS900 to see what price I could get and it was gone too. Then I spotted a Music man axis copy licenced to EB/MM by a company called OLP.

I took one down for quick strum. It had a strat bridge, a quilted top and also the MM neck joint. I tried the amber one (they had few). A red one looked a bit better built at closer inspection, but for £199 it felt pretty good. The action was terrible but as it's in the squire price range I was tempted to get one just for the hell of it. But I had to walk away or I would have bought a new 'toy' *not a new guitar

Has any one else tried these? I never plugged it in but I imagine it would have sounded pretty average.

OLP guitars

They do look sweet, not seen one yet buy quite tempted to get one, stick in a floyd rose, new pickups, gut the electrics and some new tuning pegs.....but only if the wood resonated well and had a good inherent tone, which I would doubt it does, but they do look sweet.

OLP guitars

I wouldn't mod it as it a pretty cheap guitar so any mods would cost more than the guitar but for a change to a Squire Tele or Strat it seems quite nice.
