Opinions on a new guitar?

Howdy folks

I'm planning on buying a new guitar soon to be used for shred/metal, and even though i've got a few ideas, I was hoping to get some input from my fellow Jemsiters.

I'm looking at guitars in the J-Custom/USA Jackson ballpark, and apart from a good quality floating bridge, i'm open as to features, shape and finish.

Any opinions would be much appreciated

So, what guitar do you recommend for rocking peoples socks off?

Re: Opinions on a new guitar?

Well The Jackson DKMG is brilliant for shredding! The neck is really thin and its a light guitar. It has an awesome tone for metal because it gives high gain output because of the EMG's! It has a Floyd Rose Tremelo aswell so its good for all those Dive bombs and randoms squeals! Also the Jackson Soloist would be good for shred metal!

Re: Opinions on a new guitar?

I don't know if you've made up your mind on getting one of the brands listed, but you might want to take a look at the Carvin DC series if you want a neck through or the Carvin C66 series if you want a bolt on. Don't get me wrong, Ibanez and Jackson guitars are great, but Carvin definitely provides more bang for the buck.

Re: Opinions on a new guitar?

Thanks for the advice folks

I've made up my mind, and I'm currently saving for a Caparison Tat II, and later, the new MIJ S

So many guitars, so little money...

Rock on!

Re: Opinions on a new guitar?

warmoth all the way
maple neck with ebony with full scallop
reverse headstock for better tone and tension on the uppers
kahler setup all the way, best performance and denser tone
x2n bridge and duncan distortion neck
fully shielded cavities and wiring
1 meg push pull 3 way 500ktone with .022 cap

heres my thread of it
all out havnent played a guitar that plays better or sounded better than this setup

if you want all out ballz get a setup alder body ofcoarse and get a x2n with a single volume 2 meg pot with no tone of switches or what not...nothing beats the tone and compression of a x2n all out 2 meg pot
and as for a emg81/85, lets just say they are entry level and ntohing else whn it comes to chred tone

some people like them, i dont, and i hate the desing and the limited bandwith and freq charachteristics they have

all out passive for balls to the wall.
and all out for warmoth

and i have a love for kahlers and the tone you get, and the least amount of problems you get with them...along with super smooth function and awesome part materials you can use in between saddles, brigdes, locking mech, rolers, springs, everything is tottaly customizable
