opinions on Peavey Wolfgang QT Special

i have played a few of these at recent guitar shows and at some local shops.
They a basically cut down Special flametops.
they have a Quilt maple cap(a reasonably thin one) over basswood body
rock maple neck and fingerboard(cut to the same dimesions as the more expensive wolfgangs) and a non reccesed(sp?) trem with d-tuner
Its korean made

all of these i have played(about 5 or 6) have very nice finishes, the quilt maple looks like its good quality and the guitar has a reasuring weight to it
The neck, to me, is very comfy and nice to play chords or fast runs on although it only has medium frets on they are well finished and feels good

the sound is also quite good, aparrently the pups are not as hot as the ones on the more expensive wolfgangs, they have a good clear sound with a good ability to cut, nice mids and top end, although they dont sound that chunky

the only thing of low quality on there is the trem, i dont find this much of a problem because its not floating so theres no tuning problems

all in all i think they are really nice guitars for the money
£400 new i think

anyone else tried these? opinions?

I have played one in a music shop in Crouch End. For the money they are very nice indeed. For a little bit more moolah, however, you can get a mint s/h USA special. It lacks the quilt top but you can feel the difference. Have a look on Loot.com and **** also.

I love this guitar! It's gonna be the next one, once I get some money. I actually sold my old RG for it, but then some financial thing happened here and I just couldn't buy it. I think it's one of the best Korean made guitars available... I love the neck, has a very comfortable feel to it. Personally I didn't feel a difference when I tried the Korean and the USA model, although I have to say, that I didn't try them back to back, so...

But I'll stick to the Korean, because it's cheaper ( I need a backup once we start gigging....) and it has a very good quality. I'm afraid if I try a USA one back to back with the korean I want the USA !

Great guitar, I love the maroon finish.

They have a few of those down at the local music store here and I don't really care for them. They look good but I would hold out for a USA made one.

I bought a Wolf Spec. QT about three months ago... LOVE IT!!!
Totally awesome. I used to have a US made Spec. which I sold. Immediately afterwards I regretted I sold it so I bought this one, no difference in quality IMO.
I even like the QT's neck more.
About the trem, I actually find this one better than the old one on the US Wolf Special. The arm holder is genius!!!

All in all: it's a great geetar!

This pic doesn't do it justice at all, it (the pic) is kinda blurred.

Great guitars....I used to have an archtop quilt as well. Here's a pic (crappy one)of my Special....it's an ex-EVH ...well ex because he rejected it.

BTW, Rich's couch is already famous here and I'm trying to get my front door some notoriety.

Daaaaaaaah, come on! I want exactly that one!!

I played a blue one today, cause I wanted to try the Vetta. I didn't really pay attention to the amp, because I was so happy to hold this guitar in my hands .

Once you have the maroon one, could you make some decent pictures? I'm torn between that one and the amber...

Thanks

Fabe

I dont have a digital camara, but if i can borrow one i will post some nice pics.
I personally prefer the maroon finish(well i wouldnt have chose it if i didnt like it) to the blue one.
The quilt top looks nicer through the lighter maroon finish, the blue seems quite dark, although it could have been the lighteing in the shop

Really looking farward to picking it up on wednesday
