Re: Original FR VS Schaller FR

I think original but I think for a cheaper FR and same quality IMO check out gotoh ones. scroll down to see em http://www.universaljems.com/cart/bridgelocking.htm

I just checked the price on warmoth and OFR definitly it is only 5 bucks more than schaller

Re: Original FR VS Schaller FR

The OFR is hardened steel and the Schaller is cast. That is the only meaningful difference. You will be happy with either one.

I have multiples of both, and you can't go wrong with either one.

Re: Original FR VS Schaller FR

The Schaller bridge is different from the OFR in that the main body is die cast with hardened steel inserts for fulcrum points. Sonically, the die cast design is slightly warmer sounding than the solid steel original.

I like the Schaller, for the reason Ayrton said (cast = warmer).

Re: Original FR VS Schaller FR

You could always try the PING Floyd. Easily as good as an OFR, but costs $30 or $40 less. It's the only Licensed Floyd to carry the Floyd Rose logo, because it's made to the exact same standards as an OFR. The only difference is it has a brass sustain block and arm bushing.

Yeah, I debated between the two then decided on the Schaller because it's cheaper and I think it looks better.

Re: Original FR VS Schaller FR

I would choose the trem depending on the wood type used for the body. Warm sounding body wood? Fit an OFR. Bright sounding body wood? Go with the Schaller to level it out a little bit. It's like putting a balanced hifi together -- you don't choose bright speakers with a bright amp, for example.

Re: Original FR VS Schaller FR

Thanks dudes. Im going with an alder body, maple top, maple neck/fretboard, tone zone/hs2/air norton...so Schaller seems the best.
thanks!

Re: Original FR VS Schaller FR

I like the schaller since it has a less brittle tone overall to the the cast of the plate and
if i am not mistaken werent the OFR's made by schaller anyway?
