Paul Gilbert and Reb Beach Ibanez - Lo-TRS II ?!?!?

Gilbert and Beach both have 2 Ibanez signature models each. 1 model from each guy has a standard bridge and the other a Lo-TRS II.

Why would these guys' sig. models have a floating bridge that are TRS and not EDGE??? Doesn't make sense to me, man.

What does TRS stand for anyhoo?

"To Resist Sufficiency"? It's something the TRS seems to do very well

err efficiency?

Well it just seems strange as these guys could play any guitar and any rig they so wished. Then they go choose a TRS.

I know it's a word but efficint works too.

Well the point of signature models of sig. models is so the artist can design their guitar. Better than just good enough for a sig model. Why not go for "best"?

I know, but efficient starts with an E.

But to be serious, yeah, it's puzzling why PG and Beach would settle for TRS's... Ask them yourself!

Firstly, they each had models that were Edge and Lo Pro equiped also. The reason you get a substandard model with the TRS is price point of course.

I haven't seen the Edge/LPE versions of their guitars in any Ibanez Catalogues. I don't think their models are that popular anyways.

Hey what ever happened to the Frank Gambale model? It was almost exactly like a S with different pickups.

Out of all of them Gilbert's the only artist still endorced, so he's the only one you'll find in the catalog. The PGM100 had an Edge, the 300 has the Lo Pro (available overseas), the RBM1 and 2 (and equivalent international models ie. 400) had Lo Pro's. I don't think there ever was a TRS equipped Gambali.

No gambale always had Lo Pro. I rather liked his model.
I like the S series. Decent sized neck (larger than wizard) and mohog body. Gambale just had his own pickups in there and it was great.

I saw an article with him with a Yamaha guitar. I dunno why he would've switched. Maybe they payed hmi to endorse it. Who knows. The FG was a great axe.

Gambale switched because he felt some things Ibanez was doing were not ethical. And he got to design his Yamaha any way he wanted. Ibanez just had an extra guitar that needed endorsing so Frank took it. I think this is all on his website.

Jem 555 and the JS100's are TRS equipped too. * It all comes down to creating a cheaper model for the public too. *
Not just on the PGM's and the RBM's
