And.......

There is one at a local shop here in town in near mint with a $1k tag on it that I'm trying to not put a deposit on (MUST ....FIGHT.....GAS!!!).

I love it. Good quality parts, excellent pickups and beautiful to boot. I'm really trying not to buy it but damn! it is saweet!!!

After owning a Wolfgang and playing their Limited USA series axes they used to make, I have great faith in the USA shop at Peavey.

He didnt ask what we thought about it, just if we ever played one.
They are awesome guitars, I too had to fight the urge to put money down on it. There was a really nice hardtail gold top and a burst with a floating trem, both great guitars

Re: Peavey HP Series

Ive played the hardtail version, it wasnt altogether that wolfgang like with the different tailpiece it felt and sounded quite different. On another note though certain aspects of peaveys construction have improved, it just felt like a bit of a canned guitar to me though, i guess perhaps i need to try the trem version before i can make a claim on what i think about the series as a whole.

I'm curious about this too because none of the shops around here have any HP specials. I love the Wolfgang and it seems the things they changed are improvements - body (or belly in my case -lol) contour, split-able pups, better upper-fret access, and the option of floating or non-floating bridge. But the biggest question for me is, were they able to keep the neck EXACTLY the same? Because that's my favorite part of the wolfies.

The HP Special neck (unfinished), pickups and trem are exactly the same as the Wolfgang. I ordered an HP sight unseen and was floored. It's as good as anything I've ever played. The necks and pickups are incredible. One of the best values going these days.

Re: Peavey HP Series

I really want a quilttop HP special.... they're way out of my reach though. I always liked the Wolfgangs but thought they could look a little cooler if they had pointier horns - the HP is just that
