Peavey HP Special EX anyone?

Hi -

Anyone try one of these yet?

http://www.peavey.com/products/brows...ecial%20EX.cfm

Looks like a newer version of the wolfgang. Wonder what the difference is between this and the korean made wolfgangs (besides price)?

Thanks

Jeff

That's one of the poorest sunbursts I've ever seen. It looks like the dodgy 2 rings round with the spray gun at 6inch that Fender were churning out post 65 CBS take over.

Utter pants!

The EX model is made in china and like the korean EVH, has medium output pickups. The good thing about the guitar is that it's more versatile than the EVH with its middle PU.

Also, I've checked with Peavey and they really didn't make too many models of the Special EX last year. Worse, they also can't tell when they would begin building such models again.

If you want the real thing, you can't go wrong with the HP Special US. Greg Howe and Marc Rizzo plays one.

Re: Peavey HP Special EX anyone?

hi! i own this kind of guitar. the sunburst actually looks good in a personal view.. the pickups are great also with medium output... but the sustain is not that of the hp special ct usa and also the hotness of the pickups. but overall it is a guitar worth the money coz the floyd rose is good. you might want to replace the trem block to brass to have a better sustain... the guitar overall sounds warm even on the bridge pickup.. it captures great harmonics that won't hurt your ear. it has no trem block lock-on system like the hp special ct... and the tuning pegs are smaller than that of the CT... you can check a video of myself playing with my Peavey HP Special EX in my youtube channel. just search for Andre - Phoenix (Original Composition)...

Sounds cool! I was looking at those then saw a Peavey Wolfgang Special EXP for $400 on eBay. It's nice but I had to put on Gotoh tuners because the Grovers were like plastic and kept moving around and they broke when I tightened them. Total was still under $500. It sounds exactly like "Human's Being" when you play it. Not crunchy like this (could be good or bad but I like "different" and use a Schecter for crunchier metal stuff).
