Prices going up

On Fender guitars... At least On the artist series.

SRV strat last year,(actually last week) was 1529.00 US

Now ,it is 2019.00 US

Good thing I got mine last year!

That's quite a price-hike for a guitar.

thoughts?

EDIT: Sorry for not quoting the source,

Re: Prices going up

Fender seems to have lost their minds this year and have jacked prices just like another major brand we all know

The USA Deluxe Tele was $1276 last year and this year is $1749 which is nearly a $500 jump for no apparent reason other than greed IMHO. The USA Standard went up to $999 from $949 the previous year but this year is now $1274.

I'm glad I put a USA Deluxe Tele on layaway before the new prices hit

Re: Prices going up

Yeah, this kind of thing is driving me nuts. I mean come on, the J Mascis Jazzmaster, made in Mexico, is now $1300! The economy is in the ****ter and everything is getting cheaper except guitars...what's up with that? Surely the big name companies don't need to drive up prices so high to stay alive? I guess they figure that anyone who can afford an expensive guitar (mostly gigging / touring musicians) is willing to pay a bit extra for brand name items...but Fender and Gibson guitars aren't even that great in terms of quality these days. IMO buying one of those brands at the prices retailers are charging now is a huge ripoff.

Re: Prices going up

dont moan , just get a 2nd hand one someone couldn't really afford then decideds to bay it for half the price, if you really want a fender that is, and not just bitching about price hikes.

Re: Prices going up

I agree, that's why I always buy used, no matter the brand. It just makes me mad, because when you look at the quality of these guitars, it's clear most of them aren't worth what they are being sold for...much less the old prices.
