Last time I was at DCGL they did have one of the cloud guitars, if that is the same as in Purple Rain. *I didn't ask the price, wasn't really interested but if you are you can give them a call or e-mail.

If they were reasonable I'd get one but it won't be.

If Squire or Hohner started making them then I'd see But I'll stick to my Ibanez's and Eggle's for now.

Speaking of a "Vai related Price Bootleg" I had heard about a year ago that prince did a cover of tender surrender. Is there any truth to this, has anyone heard it if it does exist.

It does exist, and to date, I think the only ones who have heard it are only those who were at the concert, and Steve Vai himself amogst a few lucky others... SSV commented on it in an interview, and said he was blown away by what he heard...

I'd like to hear Prince doing a Steve Vai song. *Prince IS a great guitarist, better than many realize, and I've seen him live in concert but I've never heard him do anything on the level of what Vai can do

I've heard the prince version before, I would not say that it was lousy, but just don't expect Vai quality, it sounded more to me like a cover of Jimi's Villivona Junction played at woodstock, which so many said that tender surrender beared a close resemblance to

Chris.

Those guitars Prince uses that the body joins to the head stock, you know the ones, the sustain must be wicked, surely?

Prince is definitely using a Fernandes Sustainer pickup or some type of effect to get a continuous sustain....I have heard that his guitars are all Custom made and are usually 3/4 size guitars

as I said, while Prince is a much better lead guitarist than many people realize, he is not close to the level of Vai

Tender Surrender is a fantastic song....the guitar solo is incredible.....during the verse parts I hear a few Stevie Ray Vaughan licks as well as Hendrix licks, but it's truely an original piece of work, not a copycat of anything...I think Vai was just paying a little musicial tribute to an influence or two before he took the song to a level that no other guitarist has reached....yet
