Project John Mayer Relic: Here we go a custom one from ground up.

OK I have been commissioned to do a "inspired by John Mayer" Relic from a customer.

He loves the look of Johns Custom Shop Fender relic but wanted a few twists.

Alder body
Maple Neck/Rosewood Fretboard
Vintage Nickel Hardware through out versus the gold
Single ply White pickguard versus the mint green 3 ply
Fender Noiseless pickups

Picture of John Mayer and the strat were going for the look of.

Parts are in..

Here is the early stages of the plastics im working on. I know the one tone knob isnt in the right position but I was just taking a shot.

Stay tuned...

Brett

You and me both Cid, there's many mediocre blues guitarists who deserve more recognition than him.

well I havent updated this in a while.. Customer decided he didnt want a ton of clear on it so that freed me up to do some work to it

Still got plentyleft to do, got to add dings and dents to the paint, some more refined chipping, staining the raw wood etc.. we are getting there.

I wasnt to worried about the inside the cavitys under the pickguard thats going to be fully shielded

Re: Project John Mayer Relic: Here we go a custom one from ground up.

still got a ton of work to do but here is some mockups..

sorry for the crappy pictures. My good camera's battery died and the charger is at work.

I hate flash in photography its washes all the details out.

Also I want to repeat this is a JOHN MAYER INSPIRED piece. The customer wanted to add his own twists on the design.

He didnt like the bright white raw wood by the picking area.
He didnt want gold hardware
He didnt want it to have exact pattern matching like Johns etc etc.
