But isn't that why ESP changed their EXP, and V? (Which now look like Jacksons...) Don't know why there wasn't a fuss over the Eclipse, though...?

I've had one PRS that I liked.
Paul Reed Smith
guitars will NEVER have the rich history and Amercian heritage of Gibson guitars. PRS can only dream............
This reminds me of Bob Taylor's whining that his guitars are better than Martin. No history, all bolt-on necks. Never happen........ever.

Brilliant stuff!
I am glad that PRS won.
At the end of the day, I say good on em, whether the quality of the guitar is good or not. They cant be much worse than any Gibsons over the last 2 or 3 years. Gibsons over that period have just been awful - the ones that I have played anyway!

Ummm... Gibsons aren't that cheap...

Re: PRS wins! Singlecut lives! Gibson screws themselves!
I've personally played lots of great Gibsons, and a bunch of crap as well. However, if you look beyong the solidbodies, Gibson makes some fine instruments, and has for a long, long time. I played a pair of early 50's L7's a few weeks ago, and they were outstanding. Action as low as an electric, great tone for days. Try a new L4, and see the light.

Actually, it will happen, in time. It's like many years ago, Gibson had no history, they were some fledgeling musical instrument company. But several decades later, they've got a rich history and American heritage LOL!!!
PRS is now 20 years old, and seem to be doing really really well for themselves. Give it another 20 years, and they'll have pretty much as much history as Fender has today...
Personally I'm REALLY glad to see PRS win as I think there's room in teh market place for both these guitars, I just wonder whether the sales figures would beg to differ?

Taylors have bolt-on necks? HUH?
Anyway, I'm a Martin owner, and even I wouldn't necessarily say Martins sound better than Taylors. They're VERY different sounding instruments, both both have their strengths.
That said, the two best-sounding acoustics I've ever played were old Gibsons... Man, not a fan of the inlay work on the new ones (generally WAY too ostentatious), but damn those things sound good...

Yeah, they're bolted on so that if you have to do a neck reset you can simply loosen/remove the bolts and slide some sandpaper inbetween the neck heel and body and sand off some of the heel. This as opposed to what you have to do for a traditional acoustic neck reset: remove fret 15, unglue fingerboard extension from top, and completely remove neck.

@Grev
Gibson SG Special (Faded) - $649.99 - SA
Gibson Faded LP Special Worn Yellow w/Gigbag - $729.99 - AMS
Gibson Explorer '76
Electric Guitar
Ebony - $999.00 (K that one is more like a grant)
And i don't want to argue, also i am happy that they lost the lawsuit. I own a explorer and its a great axe, and not any worse than my Ibanez's, ESP's or Fenders.

Re: PRS wins! Singlecut lives! Gibson screws themselves!
i get really annoyed by the controls on gibbos and PRS tho, when a song finishes im used to rolling the volume off so i only want a master volume!! and ive never felt the need to have them both on but have one dominating over the other, so it makes no sense for me!
