Question about the Fender Eric Clapton Strat

I played one earlier this week in $am Ash and fell in love with the neck. Easily one of the most comfortable. Can anyone comment on the tone options availlable? I played the newer model with the noiseless pickups and wondered how they compared to the Lace Sensors that were factory spec on the older models. I also took a lot of time getting used to the mid-boost circuit. I found I had to roll everything down pretty low to get decent clean tones, but the boost added a nice amount of edge to the sound. Thanks for any info!

Clapton likes the "V" shape necks on everything he plays - even his sig Martin. i have had a Clapton (green '00) Strat hanging on the wall at the store i work at for almost two years (hung in our other store for the previous two) and i pick it up and play it from time to time. it has the gold lace pups in it. i don't care for the bridge lace pup but i do like the tones and control over the other two pups. i have a Strat Plus that i left the gold lace pups in (i put an evolution in the lead) and i love the tones i can get out of those pups! such character and clarity.

They're really nice guitars, and all of his models have the V-Shaped neck as far as I know as well. I know he defenitely prefers it. I have played 2 models actually. One with the lace sensors in, and one with the noisless pickups in it. I much prefered the noiseless pickups, they sounded alot clearer and more crisp. The lace sensors were good though, especially the neck pickup as you said. I think they look better too!

I didn't like the first generation of Fender Noisless pickups, they just didn't quite "feel" as organic as the stock pickups in my strat. However, I believe they've improved the design since then- this was probably four or five years ago.

I've got gold lace sensors in my strat- great pickups. The neck especially rocks, and they really are dead-silent. I'm also not 100% sold on the bridge pickup; it's good, but I too am itching for a bridge humbucker. I'm thinking maybe a Screamin' Demon, if it's tappable- bit of a Lynch fan, and I've always liked his tone- very focused.

Yeah you may be right, the Clapton strat I tried with the noisless pickups in was made in the last year or so. So it was defenitely a newer model, and maybe Fender had improved the noiseless pickups by then as you said, because I loved them. A mixture of the noiseless pickups and the gold sensors would be perfect!

I just bought one not a week ago. It's remarkable- I'm 47 and own many guitars- nothing has stolen my heart as quickly as this guitar.

GET ONE.
