Rare WRC Shell Guitar

A friend of mine just scored a really bizarre guitar. It's a WRC (Wayne Charvel) guitar covered in broken shells. These pics aren't the greatest but are all I have for now.

Anyone know anything about this guitar or have any idea of its value? I found some info related to Ritz guitars and their "Neptune" series of guitars but the info is pretty sparse.

I have heard about these somewhere on Ed Roman's website a long time ago, that might be worth checking out.

well its the only site i've ever seen these guitars mentioned, so to him it might prove useful?

I think those were from around the same time Wayne had some involvement with BC Rich, hence the STIII shaped body...

Wayne Charvel built.. EXTREMEMLY rare..Charvel collectors will pay BIG $$$..done right around Wayne's involvement with Gibson.. he'd done a line of WRC/Gibson super strats as everyone was trying to come up with something to combat Ibanez, ESP and Jackson at the time. Michael Angelo Batio was also playing these for a while following Wayne from BC Rich to Gibson to Ritz and WRC.
You can also contact Wayne or his son through Wayne guitars and they'll be able to give you info and maybe even make you an offer on it themselves.
Ed buys a lot of these also.

That's exactly what I was thinking, as well! I'm actually having a guitar made with a similar blue with gold hardware, like the Subaru WRC car.
