Recommend a guitar with a narrow neck ?

I have gone through many guitars over the last few years but the one that sticks out as feeling the best is strangely enough, the Yamaha Pacifica 112.
I think it’s due to the narrow neck (40mm at the nut). My hands are a bit of a weird shape, sort of big palms and stubby fingers (yes yes I know, bring it on !!) so the combination of fairly clubby and narrow seems to fit me quite well.
Does anyone know of any other guitars out there that have a 40mm neck or is my ideal guitar destined to be a pacifica ?.

Ta

Darren

Well you could get a more upmarket pacifica? The 112's kick ass anyway, but I get the feeling you want something a little better.

Only the 112 has the 400mm neck, the rest are 430, I do like the look of the Yam RG820 but it has the 430mm.

I am thinking about a custom job from Feline

Weired eh, 3mm just doesn't seem like it should make that much of a difference but for me it has a huge impact on feel.

Im confused... do you mean you like a rounder fretboard (thats what 430mm means), or a narrower neck (say 43mm, 42mm, or i dont know if its real 40mm on that yamaha)

or you could always look to the fender short scales. i.e jaguar, mustang and jag-stang. i think the thickest one is 41mm at nut.

Don't know what your price range is but the Ibanez AT (Andy Timmons) neck is 40.5mm@ the nut, 56mm@ the last fret and 20mm thick@ the 1st fret.

Re: Recommend a guitar with a narrow neck ?

sorry, my bad, I am talking about the width of the neck at the nut and it should've been 40mm not 430. I do like a flat neck as well though.

Re: Recommend a guitar with a narrow neck ?

Thanks for the info, never really looked at the AT before, the specs suggest it would suit me perfect but I am not sold on the looks at all. I am going to try and find someone local who has one in and give it a go.

I have emailed a local luthier regarding a custom build but it depends on the cost.

Thanks

Re: Recommend a guitar with a narrow neck ?

I started on a Pacifica 012, that was my first electric. I really loved it, they are the best guitars to start off with. That and the 112 are just great guitars. Much better than any lower-end Squier Affinity and copies. I got rid of it ages ago now, but I really liked it. It defenitely helped me when I was starting out.

Re: Recommend a guitar with a narrow neck ?

I'm in the same boat as you, Darren. Average overall hand size but with big palms and short fingers. Have you tried a Peavey Wolfgang? They worked so well for me, I got two -lol. They have a 1 5/8" nut (not sure what mm that is) which is probably what you want. Another guitar that is really comfortable for me, and I'm considering purchasing, is the Gibson V. They have that nice, fat Gibson combo of mahogany and humbuckers but much better upper fret access (and price!) than a LP. Just a couple ideas.
