RG2020X.. - how are the stock pickups? Any recommendations t

I have been thinking of getting a RG2020x..mainly becos of the Piezo bridge...was initially thinking of getting the EBJP..but man...the pricing is way too steep...I could get a RG2020 in my country for about 1.5K Sing dollars(about 800US) which is quite a steal....But I am wondering how good are the stock pickups ? What kinda pickups would be suited to the mahogany body? A tonezone, norton combination perhaps?

I played a couple RG2020's and was never impressed with the stock pickups (V7 & V8, I believe). They sounded really mushy.

My 2020 has an Air Norton and a Steve's Special. I've also got other mahogany guitars with a PAF Pro/Tone Zone (3120/CST), and Air Norton/Tone Zone (ART/1880). For neck pickups, I like the Air Norton only slightly more than the PAF Pro. For bridge pickups (on mahogany) though, I really like the Tone Zone over the Steve's Special.

All in all, the 2020 is a great axe, and if you could get one for around $800US, I'd go for it.

a lot of people seem to like the tone zone in the 2027XVV (which is the 7 string version of the 2020X)

so i presume these pups sound good in all mahogony guitars .....
