As one might expect the strings have more tension to them, exactly how much I don't know, but some like it more than others.

I think the frets are spaced farther apart too, but I'm not exactly sure.

The shorter or longer scale would have more tension?

Re: Scale lenghts..differences..?
I would have thought the longer scale would have less tension on the strings. Interesting...

Re: Scale lenghts..differences..?
think about it, in order to get the same note in the same key on a longer string, you have to wind it tighter, thus more tension.
congrats on your 777th post btw...

Re: Scale lenghts..differences..?
Will be a pretty big difference in feel. I can feel the difference in scale between a LP and a Strat so I would imagine the jump from 25.5 to 27 would be even more pronounced. I string my Pauls with 11's and my strats with 10's or 9's depending - to help compensate for the difference in tensions.

Re: Scale lenghts..differences..?
Yeah, you can feel the difference. A longer scale length gives you a more defined, piano-istic low end, especially if we're talking a 7-string tuned to B or below.
Once you et used to it, like anything, the extra
string tension
and slightly longer stretches aren't a big deal.

Re: Scale lenghts..differences..?
Does it mean than that it 27 would be harder to play.. i mean , let's say..faster runs and stuff..
I mean , streches doesn't seem to scare me..but the tension..it could be difficult for soloing maybe..?
And i was sure that i have red somewhere that tension is lesser in 27 than 25,5..

Re: Scale lenghts..differences..?
well 27 scale means that you have that much more tension on the strings . This means you can use smaller
gauge strings
to tune your guitar down and the strings not get all rubbery and floppy . 27 scale will more then likly be harder to tune to standard and still feel comfrotable playing due to the increase in tension. that is why guitars with 26.5 or 27 scale are called baritone guitars , they are between a bass and normal guitar .

Re: Scale lenghts..differences..?
Nah, you'll get used to it pretty quickly.
(as I sit here ripping up a 26 1/2" neck I've had for less than 2 weeks
)
