Scored A Custom Shop Strat!

Well, as much as I wanted another Jem, my first love has always been Strats.
Today, an early Fender Custom Shop Strat in Surf Green became available to me...and since I really wanted a Jem I was strong and didn't immediately jump on it. But an hour or so later the guy called me back - just to let me know the certificate came with it...I asked who the builder was.....and this guitar was built by none other than JOHN PAGE.

In case you're not up on your Fender history, JP started the Fender Custom Shop - the whole thing was his baby-John built the first Custom Shop guitars ever offered. Before taking over the R&D facilities for Fender he had concieved, created and built CS guitars for more Guitar Gods than anyone else in history.
He's constantly mentioned in any book about Fender. He's an integral part of Fender guitar history...and I just bought one of the few guitars he personally built!

Page is gone now, I believe? Don't know whether he retired or passed away, but he's apparently quite ill - fantastic guitar maker!

It will arrive on Thursday - says UPS. I will definitely post pix 'cause I'll have it for Saturday night's gig. I seem to gravitate towards Surf Green Strats - this will be number 4. (but the ONLY John Page)

I actually spoke with John on a seperate topic about 3 months ago - he's building high-end furniture out on the Northwest coast and doing quite well.
Can't wait to tell him I bought one of his mistakes..... :^)

Is it a "stock" (i.e. original) CS Strat, meaning nothing at all has been swapped?

nice grab with the strat man. i havea seafoam green that I'm adding EMG DG20's to..Cant wait to see the pics. Be sure to sniff the guitar and lick the neck a few times..

Kev, I'll always have a place in my heart for that Shell Pink one. Damn that one hurt me....

The JP is bone stock except Sperzels were installed (without drilling). Lots of birdseye too.
