Should I buy a Chibanez of some sort just for fun?

I'm off to China this summer to visit my relatives. Having seen all these fake Ibanezes on **** for $100-200 and with insane shipping fees, I realized that if I bought one from China, they would be really cheap since I wouldn't have to pay tax or shipping.

I would find one that looked reasonably real, and then nail it to my wall for decoration

Hmmm....maybe a swirl or floral JEM, or even a UV

I remember seeing fake ibanez basses in a few shops last time I visited(Before I started playing guitar), so I'm pretty sure you can get the guitars too.

Has anyone here just knowingly bought a Chibanez for the fun of it?

I know your expectations are low so you won't be that disappointed, but the fact that you are considering a chibanez as a decoration or mantle piece suggests you don't realise how bad they can be...the florals look like poo and so do the VWHs. From what I've seen on this site, they are really bad copies...so nothing to hang on your wall. My 2p.

I wouldn't support what they're doing. Period.

If you really want one see if you can find a Jem 333 that Ibby put out to counter the counterfeit product.

If you want something as a souvenir, get one of those acoustics covered with inlaid dragons or something. But get something original, not a copy of someone else's work.

I'm don't particularly want one as a "souvenir", since I am Chinese

Whats the Jem333 like? Does it have the vines?

If its the moral of buying a fake instrument thats wrong, If I knowingly buy one, then thats one less poor kid buying one off **** thinking it was real. :P

ha ha not quite...it's one more Chibanez that will be ordered into the shop to replace it, and therefore, into the marketplace. Don't do it...look into the Jem333.

+1. If nobody bought them, they wouldn't exist.

Hmmm.......after seeing those pictures, I'm starting to change my mind.

I wouldn't want to be anywhere near something like this :

The crappiness might rub off onto my real Ibanezes

i actually prefer the 333 to 555. the dot inlays look way better than the half vine
