Question

Should I restore this or leave it

Ok, so I came across a old (built first week of 1959) Silvertone U1 with the coke bottle head and a magnatone amp. It has some mold on the chrome and paint wear (copper color). If I repaint and polish up the chrome will it hurt its value? I'll post pics if there is interest in this thread.
I see these things going for stupid money on the "blue book" site and dont want to damage this one's value.

Repaint, will hurt the value
Polishing the chrome, probably not

Re: Should I restore this or leave it

It's pretty beat up (finish wise) IMO but, I know nothing about these guitars and their value. So, if I were to keep it, I'd get it restored to its original condition to retain the original look, albeit, restored.
