It's kinda cool that they'll be open to using hardware that the player wants. I think the guitar is pretty cool looking.

On a side note, I always find it interesting to see how player's taste are cyclic.

When I started playing a back in '82, guitars made of exotic woods (save flame tops) were becoming much less popular. By the late 80s/early 90s, you couldn't give them away. Most folks wanted neons, graphics, or classics (bursts, black, white, red and blue with an odd green (not neon) thrown in.

Here we are in 2008 and except for a few reissues (RG550 and RG770) and die-hard metal fans (guilty as charged) wanting the guitars of their youth, natural tops composed of multiple exotic woods are once again popular.

Eh. I don't dig it. I mean, if he's proud of it, good for him, but I guess I find it a mediocre build. The flame in the wood looks nice and all, but the rest seems kinda rough. To each his own.

Well, that my friend is the very definition to me at least of "going custom". If you can't choose the parts, there goes a huge chunk of the "made for you" appeal...

It's nice... in terms of woods. The writing and the star don't do it for me. Star makes it look like a toy and the uneven writing reminds me of stuff we used to do in woodwork in highschool. Front of the body and back of the neck is killer though.
