so i offically hate the sound of my jackson.
so i bought an s470 a few months back and the guitar was a train wreck so i had it painted and now it looks good (still not done yet), it had dual emg 81's when i got it so me being a jackson = emg and ibanez = dimarzio kinda guy put them in my custom painted jackson dinky, replacing the original emg-hz, i figured the dual 81's would be an upgrade but the hz's were far better i am kinda sad i took umm out, now i have avidly and sometimes alomst violently defended emg's as "versatile" and god was i wrong, if you want chigga chigga WAHHHH type metal riffs man they are good but if you want n e thing good they are sadly far off the mark, that's my rant and my jackson will get dimarzios as soon as i can afford them!

There's no wires running from the actual pickups themselves?

EMGs have a clip, no wires connected to the pickup. They plug in.

If you replaced HZs with the active EMGs and didn't replace the pots you will have trouble. You need 25K pots for active EMGs. Also the 18 volt mod is brilliant with EMGs. Opens them up even more.
EMGs are very versatile, they just take some playing around with to get that great sound.

Dimarzios don't cut the mustard either as far as I'm concerned. EMGs I was persuaded were good with an 18v mod at least. But for me it's Bare Knuckle all the way. Seriously, from now on I'm going to wait longer to save up for new pickups if that's what it takes. Everyone has complimented me on my Warpigs.
