I was just looking at the specs and you're right - but, I still love the top. I'll take a black headstock over anything else for a top that looks like that!
Thanks again to all of you for all the compliments.

Yeah, many people praise the quality of the wood
Suhr
uses. Here are Gurj's Suhrs. As you can see they've got awesome tops, as well.

Re: Something for you Suhr fans
Some more great close ups. In some of which you can see the profile of the bridge very well.

Suhr guitars feels that the Gotoh Floyd Rose is superior to the original, which they had before on their guitars. But they had to adjust it (the original) in order to get it set up right.

First of all, let me elaborate. Over the past 18 months I have bought a Carvin DC-127 with an OFR, my Bernie Rico Jr. 627 with an OFR and I had a Herc Fede Jem with an OFR.
NEVER again.... all three of my Floyds had this horrible "wiggle" to them and all of them were either factory installed or set up by a luthier. I think that they are just junk anymore. No more, ever! LOL
My Suhr has the Gotoh, my BRJ 627 just got the Gotoh installed and any future guitar I get that would have a Floyd on it would have to have the Gotoh Floyd. There's just no comparison. I don't know what happened to the OFR - seems like they just went downhill.

Re: Something for you Suhr fans
It's called a 'silver drip' finish. It's pretty cool. They also have a 'root beer drip' which is great, too.

Re: Something for you Suhr fans
Regarding the bridge... Suhr has these little descriptions of the bridges they offer on their website. And prior to the Gotoh they said on their website that they 'still felt the OFR was a good sounding bridge, even though the quality of the parts had declined over the years'. And then they subsequently stopped offering it. I heard someone say on the Suhr forum, it was partly because adjusting every single OFR before they could mount them on the guitars, took time and became very tiresome. But also because they feel the Gotoh is just better, of course.
Here's what they say about the Gotoh:
In our estimation, this is simply the best double-locking tremolo system on the market today. The construction quality is second-to-none while producing a big tone with plenty of bottom end that is not normally found in bridges of this type.
The arm mechanism is solid with no clunking whatsoever. It feels extremely smooth and stable, allowing you to dive bomb deep into the sonic subterranean regions as well as pulling up those squealing high harmonics into the stratosphere. The beveled saddles also provide more comfort when resting your palm on them. This is the ultimate Floyd and we are very pleased to offer this bridge on our instruments.

Yeah, they're around 2K. They're worth it, though.
But the Suhr pro series are cheaper. You can get one of those for less than 2K. Although the choices you have regarding the color are limited.
