Speeding up the process (Gibson Faded guitars!)

Ok so i`ve heard that just from playing the guitars with the faded/worn finishes they will get shiny and smoother feeling. My question is,is there a way to speed up this process?(other than playing it more!) Also is it ok to use a guitar polish like Dunlop on these finishes?

I know someone who used a Carnuba Cleaner Wax and put some serious work into buffing it. It does not shine as much as the regular Standard, but is definietly shines more then the regular faded look it had.

Check this out - a guy over on the My LP forums picked up a faded and used some nice polish on it. Looks awesome.
