Re: star power guitars

i bought a LP kit a while ago and sent it back. It was really bad. Glue all over the binding, not sanded down, the bridge mounted crooked and all hardware was just plain junk, BUT they took it back no question.

I also had one that had a cracked body, etc. They sent a replacement (still not the greatest) but they were nice to work with in that they let me keep the defect.

Re: star power guitars

well i got my guitar and it looks pretty good. set up was ok, need to lower the action alittle. the finish good was awful, definitly will need to be sanded befor its ready for paint. i will get some pick to post. thinking of putting a kamakazee paint job on it and maybe selling it. i dont care for the neck , its super smooth and finished nice, but fells wide to me.

Re: star power guitars

Does anyone offer a set neck, decent, and reasonably priced Les Paul kit? I have seen these before, but it seems a crap shoot to get a good one.

Ayrton

I do believe with some work and money these Star Power things can be turned into something decent. I am just not sure if the effort and money wouldn't probably equal the price of a decent LP Copy from Michael Kelly and alikes.

Re: star power guitars

Thanks for the heads up! I looked up those Michael Kelly and they (at least from the pictures) look nice for under $400.

I would like to get a Les Paul, but was not impressed with the studio ($900) and even less thrilled with the standard ($1500). It is not that I mind spending the $1500, but I guess I just expected better finishing for the money.

Besides Michael Kelly, who else should I look at?

Well I am glad to hear you are happy with your purchase. I played around with several Les Pauls last week and I just was not "feeling it" with any of the studios and frankly I was not impressed with the fit and finish of any of the Les Pauls I played. (standards and studios).

I want to try a few Les Paul Standard Fadeds before I give up though. I will buy a Gibson if I can find one I feel is worth it, but I am not opposed to getting a copy.
