Strat maple neck question, help!

I want to buy a strat, so i was checking Fender's site and something caught my attention. I checked to different models with maple neck, but the necks are so different (in looks), i dont understand why, one seems darker and with some patterns, does it have anything to do with the p/n reference (what is that?) here are the links:

Aging produces that same effect?

I think in those two pics it's just a little figure in the wood itself making one (with the white pickguard) look a little darker.

Well, wood is part of a tree, which is a living creature, and like all living creatures, none are created perfect.

Some cuts of wood look different than others.

It could also be the abalone dots in the first one look different from the standard black PVC ones in the second.

i think its the finish on the neck. it justs gives it a darker look.
