Re: strat pups

Fender Custom Shop 69s if you can find them.

Kinman Woodstocks if you want noiseless.

Here you go....

http://www.acmeguitarworks.com/webpa...age_id=1#clips

You can also compare to the Custom Shop 54s, Fralin, Loller, etc. on that page.

Re: strat pups

G&L Legacy Pups - awesome classic strat tones... Replaced the noiseless (aka lifeless) pups in my American Deluxe Strat after A/B'ing a G&L Legacy with comparable body and neck woods. They're about $130 for a set directly from G&L (www.glguitars.com).

Re: strat pups

Here's my take. For a "classic" Strat tone you want vintage type, lower output pickups. Less output = brighter, and higher output = darker sounding. Thats what I think anyway. I have plain old Fender vintage pickups in my strat and it has all the tone. Noiseless has it's benefits I guess but if you listen to the clips on that page Ayrton posted you will hear that prety much all the pickups sound good except the Lace ones. The Lace sound sterile and lifeless. The CS 69's sound the best.

Just compare the Custom Shop '69's http://www.acmeguitarworks.com/mp3/cs69/cs69_wing_4.mp3

To the Lace Holy Grails http://www.acmeguitarworks.com/mp3/g...ail_wing_4.mp3

The 69's sound SO much better.

If money is no object, I'd also say the Fralins.
