string through or wilkinson?
I been deciding between a bolt on carvin with either string though or wikinson? What I am thinking now is that, why get a tremolo that you can't really abuse it? Is that true? I always got the image that wikinson stablity cant be compare to FR system. Is that true? Correct me if im wrong.

Re: string through or wilkinson?
it's not fair to compare it to a FR.
it's the best non-locking, imho.

Re: string through or wilkinson?
If abusing the tremolo is an important part of your music, then the Wilkinson isn't for you. You can't get the piezo's with the Floyd, however.

Re: string through or wilkinson?
does the wilkinson pivot on studs like floyds do, or is it screwd down like a standard
strat trem
?
Im getting my sh*t together about restoring and refinising an old roadstar and im looking at different hardware...

Re: string through or wilkinson?
Yeah the Wilkinsons pivot on studs. They are non
locking trems
and they are very good non locking trems as well but still no Floyd.
A trem you can't abuse still has some use to me, just not to abuse. I think you need to figure out your priorities in order to decide.

You can't get a Floyd on the
Carvin Bolt
. The Bolt+ is available with Floyd but it's not the same guitar exactly and costs a bit more. I guess it would depend how important the strat pickup arrangement and pickguard are to him. The Bolt+ has 2 hums (a middle single can be added as an option) and no pickgaurd, the Bolt has 3 singles or a
bridge hum
and 2 singles. If he's a lefty then it's all irrelevant 'cause those silly buggers at Carvin won't put a Floyd on any of their leftys.

Me neither. It did cost them in my case. I was decided on buying a DC127 and an AC375 from Carvin. Had all the options worked out, phoned them up and found out there would be no Floyd for the DC127 in lefty.
I asked if they were sure... yes.
I asked if I could convince them otherwise... no.
I asked why.
"Well, it's not available."
Yeah, I understand that but specifically why?
"It's just not an option we offer."
Oh, ok. Nevermind then.
They were very polite. The salesperson did check with the shop just in case it was one of their famous hidden options. I have no bad feelings or ill will towards Carvin over it, any manufacturer has the right to build or not build whatever they want. It just seems silly to me. The CNC is set up for lefty versions of their guitars. It's set up to route for the Wilky. It just doesn't seem like it would take all that much more to add the Floyd route to the programming. Maybe I'm wrong and it's a huge thing though. Anyway, it worked out ok. I'm very happy with my RG1570LBK and I'll probably still buy the AC375 from Carvin eventually since Ibanez doesn't offer a thinline acoustic in lefty that I'm aware of.
