Suhr

I know this might not be strictly the place for it, but I just wanted to say thanks to Rick and Ben at Sounds Great in Manchester for staying open late tonight and for quoting on a John Suhr guitar for me.

Negotiations with the wife to follow

I think diamond earings to equivalent value may be at the top of her list!

Rick's a good guy, he helped me go for this beauty

Worth every diamond you have to buy the mrs

What specs are you going for? Make sure you get John to sign the headstock.

Sounds Great have a nice Koa Reb Beach model in !!

Re: Suhr

They do indeed have a nice Reb Beach in. I'm still playing with specs and in truth Mark, it's yours that's prompted the interest.

I'm looking at a HSH in trans red with a chrome floyd, basswood and quilt but no binding with the Reb Beach neck profile.

Unfortunately Mrs Jono hates figured maple. She likes graphic finishes and chrome guitars

Re: Suhr

That sounds very nice !! What fingerboard - Maple, Rosewood or Pau Ferro? The new Doug Aldrich pick ups aren't meant to be stunning too

Mine has the Reb Beach neck profile and I think its very comfortable but is obviously a very personal thing.

Just want to say that things are the same in my house - every time I treat myself to something, Mrs Dex takes me out shoping and picks something of equivalent value.

The £1000 40" LCD TV I got recently ended up costing me £1200 extra in necklace, rings, a watch, new curtains for the guest bedroom, a hideous chair* for the top of the stairs and some other bits and pieces.

*hopefully she won't see this remark but see for yourself

If you're unfortunate enough and your missus sees this - we got it from John Lewis....
I know if mine does we'll probably get another one......

Anyway, back to the Suhr.....

Oh no, I can feel G.A.S. coming on in a terribly big way..........

Congrats to you both! A friend of mine is the Suhr rep in Australia, and he brought roound a bog standard Suhr Strat (white Alder, Maple neck etc) - man, that guitar makes my Custom Shop Strat feel like a toy!

Re: Suhr

I'd wait on the Suhr. Apparently, Suhr is unveiling a new 24 fret, HSH, Floyd monster at NAMM 2008. He stated it somewhere in his forums.

The Suhr forum has stopped working unforetunately

Also they have a problem launching new products on time as John is a bit of a perfectionist - I believe more Suhr amp products are in front of the 24 fretter so I wouldn't be surprised if they miss 2008 NAMM

Usually I come of worse as Mrs Jono likes foreign holidays, which she won't go on alone, so it costs double

and I quite like the chair !!!

Why? Will it be more tailored to my tastes than one I spec out myself?
