Suhr or Anderson ? GAS ATTACK !!!!!

I finally finished saving up, I've got a huge wad of cash burning a hole in my pocket and need some help choosing between the following:

1. Suhr Standard Chambered - Mahogony body, gorgeous red quilt top, HSS, std trem, locking tuners

2. Suhr Standard carve top - cherry burst flame top, HSS, std trem, locking tuners

3. Anderson - Hollow drop top - flame top

They are all similar prices

All 3 of these guitars look beautiful, but they are in 3 differenet corners of the country and I can't really travel to try all 3.

Can anybody help me decide - got any particular good or bad experiences about Suhr or Tom Anderson.

Thanks

Mark

Would be my choice out of the ones you listed.

Anderson i have always found to sound very very sterile but im not sure how much of that is due to the pickups they use.

Just as a side note i would recommend you check out a few others as well. I will put in my own shout for Organic guitars (i noticed you were in the u.k also) I pretty much only use organic since trying them about a year ago. Top quality build and amazing ressonance are realy key points with them.

Briggs also make some amazing guitars as do mc naught and nick huber.

Personally I'd say that you need to travel to try this sort of instrument.

Get a friend to take you if you're car-less. Manchester's Sounds great usually have both Anderson and Suhr guitars in stock along with my recommendation, which would be a Tyler (but I adore wtheir burning water finish, so I'm biased)

If you at least try instruments by those manufacturers you can get an idea for the guitars as a whole.

I think both brands you mention are fantastic, and of the two my own preference would be for the Andersons which just feel, to me anyway, a little more "complete" as guitars.

Nik Huber makes excellent instruments, although I'm not aware of any strat style ones like your other choices, more fat PRS/LP style stuff from what I've seen and tried.

If I had that much money for a guitar, I'd buy a Vigier Excalibur custom. Worth a look, check em out.

That would be true but most of these custom builders can make the HSS pickup arangement but yes of course you still wont have the bolt on construction.

Was just sugesting some other builders that make top quality instruments also.

The carve top Suhr is at Sounds Great, I'm car mobile so travelling is not a problem it's finding the time.

I've tried different a different Anderson Drop Top and Suhr standard before and found it really difficult to choose between them.

I thinking I'm leaning towards to Suhr Std because the quilt top is fantastic - but I'm not sure

The Tyler burning water finishes are amazing but I believe the Tyler neck profile is really thick

I've seen them on the website, nice but not my taste.

I'm set on nice maple top "strat" bodied guitar.

The carve top is growing on me as well. this is really hard trying to make my mind up

I would go with the Suhr as well. Andersons are pretty, but they feel fairly anonymous to me, not sure why...but they just don't speak to me. Suhr makes some fantastic guitars and they have their own thing going on.

As the owner of 2 Vigiers, and a Suhr Classic, i would also recommend you try out a Vigier.
