Tele Vs. Strats

Which do you prefer for blues and rock. I kind of lean to the tele since it has a fixed bridge which makes things a bit simpler. I like their clean tone too.

Re: Tele Vs. Strats

I like them both equally. Strats are good for their versatility, but a tele has a certain something that cannot be obtained in a strat. I prefer the tone of a tele, but I enjoy the design of a strat more.

Re: Tele Vs. Strats

The versatility and trem on a strat are what pulled me towards it initially, but there's a certain tone about the tele, it's a very raw, rock n' roll tone. They're both awesome, you can't say one's better than the other.

Re: Tele Vs. Strats

I wonder why certain 'celebs' are so fond of their Telecasters. Like Bruce Springsteen and Avril Lavigne, for instance.

Re: Tele Vs. Strats

While they are not my favs, I think they look very beautiful. Nothing beats a double cutaway for me, though.

Re: Tele Vs. Strats

In response to the question, I had to say Strat. But nothing will replace a good Tele when the need arises.

Re: Tele Vs. Strats

For what it's worth, tele's used to be the "vintage" sound and strats were more "modern".

Now, it's shifted. Both of them are only of use in "vintage" sounding applications cause we have more modern sounds now (Ibanez, schecter, ESP, etc.). So, when you're already going for vintage tone why not take the extra step and go tele?

Re: Tele Vs. Strats

I prefer a Strat for its feel and stuff. I added a toggle to my Strat Plus Deluxe to turn the bridge on so that I have neck/bridge and get very tele like sounds.

Re: Tele Vs. Strats

I don't have a Tele at the moment, but I do love them. They are an honest guitar in that they can certainly sound great, but aren't terribly forgiving of poor technique.
