The "Thinking Mans" Les Paul
Heres my 2 new babies..........
Introducing the
Les Paul Standard
- Double Cut!
Been after one (two!) for a while now............
These things (to me) address all the bad LP points. The double cut has :
- Easy
upper fret access
- 24 frets
- Decent tuners
- Chambered body - less weight
- Great looking flame top
- Simple control layout
None of which a normal Les Paul has
I've upgraded with Graphtech saddles and a Seymour JB/59 combo - the standard pups are Gold (yukk) and don't sound as nice!
I find myself picking these up instead of any of my Ibanez at the moment!
Anyone own/tried one???

I think the double cut is based on the old LP Jnr or Melody maker?????
So its probably correct to say the Hamer looks like a Gibson
Its where PRS got his Santana shape from...........?

Easy.......
They're not shoulder injuringly heavy
Simple controls for us dummies that like 1V & 1T
Easy upperfret access
A great top - normal LP's don't have, unless you pay mega bucks
and the one on the right cost me £400
Very overlooked and Very BRILLIANT!!!!

Re: The "Thinking Mans" Les Paul
On 3bay in the US
has a crack behind the nut - thus the cheapness
But for me to gig - what does that matter.......
I had a lovely blue custom24 PRS that was £1400
too nice to take out and get Tw*tted up

Re: The "Thinking Mans" Les Paul
I know someone who wants to trade me one for my Jackson PC-3.
If it works out I'll probably flip it though......buy low/sell high!!

Hamers (and for that matter Les Paul DCs) are the same shape as a
Gibson Les Paul
Junior
Double Cutaway
.
The PRS Santana is similar, but by no means identical to this shape, the Custom 22/24 is actually quite different.
Nice LPs you got there.
