Tom Anderson - What are these guitars like?

I have heard Tom Anderson guitars are some of the best that exist. If anyone here has one I would like to know what you think. Also how do they compare to other guitars and what is the price range. What styles of music does it fit best?

From the several I've played I've found them to be excellent quality. *They are basically Fenderish, but can be had in more flexible configs. *Some say they are sterile sounding. *Comparable guitars are Suhr and Grosh...all fine instruments that usually list for $2600-3000, but of course sell for less.

Supposedly they make only 900 guitars a year. They are great to talk to as well - you can actually call and TALK :argue: with Tom himself (which I have done a number of times..).

I owned 2 TA's - a 1988 Grand Am with the old pups (icky :help and a 1996 Drop Top with an X-Baggs in the trem... Both were great to play, but I sold both. *The MM JPM blew them both away, in my opinion... But - they are VERY well put together, the tops are artist quality and they have a multitude of sounds... The Buzz Feiten is awsome too... but, I loved the neck on the JPM way more, and the piezo in the JPM blew the TA with the BAGGS away... You can get a TA for about 1500 on ebay anymore... Hope that helps! SHawn

900 sounds right... once you get rid of major holidays and Sundays. *I know they make 3 per day. *One in the morning, one in the afternoon, one at night.

One more thing Tom told me - they re-voiced thir pups in mid/late 1995.... Supposedly made them sound better... Don't think they have changed them since tho.. but I am not 100% certain on that...
