Tom Morrelo Guitar

I just picked up the december issue of guitar world last night and what do I see on the front cover! A custom fender strat , with white body binding, black finish, mirror guard, a duncan hot rails pickup in the bridge and an ibanez edge tremolo system. SWEEETTT. Too bad hes against signature models. too capitalist maybe. But his old arm the homeless guitar had an edge trem as well, and ibanez even made him that custom talman guitar

Or go pick up the mag. The guitar really isn't anything special to look at. The only real unique distinguishing feature on it is the toggle switch on the lower horn.

Isn't that a recent special edition US Deluxe Strat, just with a new bridge pickup and the Ibanez trem installed? I recall seeing a Strat and Tele that looked almost identical in my local Fender dealer not too long ago. It's probably not a "custom" guitar in the sense that his black/red Ibanez AS or Talman guitars were. When I first saw that GW cover, I thought it was an Iron Maiden Signature Strat...

Whats not special about it? Custom wiring, pickups, and an ibanez edge trem on a STRAT. You ever seen an edge on a strat (most people havent I promise you ).

I think that what Darren meant was it's nothing special to LOOK at.
Audioslave were on Letterman the other night, and the most "unusal" looking thing about the guitar was the white binding on the body.
Not typical for a Strat.
If you break it down to specifics, sure it's a VERY unusual Strat.

On the topic of Tom Morello, I seem to remember reading in a mag where he proudly pointed out that he doesn't use effects.
Seeing them on Letterman, I only have one thing to say:
Then why the pedalboard in front of you.......?
But maybe my memory isn't what it used to be.

It was a custom made thing for him made out of totally common parts. The only thing that is different is the edge, which he can get because he is special, or what is more likely what happened, is that he had his tech install it. He is used to them.. To each his own, I personally don't lilke the Edge.
