Vester guitars

anyone know anything on this company and why they went outta business? I heard fender sued them, I just got a stage series guitar from a pawn shop (75$) got it home gave it some TLC and its not too bad, Just wanna know more about it. It also has this wacky rainbow burst graphic on the front, definatly got 80's written all over it

The store that I used to manage carried the Vester line in the late 80's/early 90's. They made entry-level guitars aimed primarily at kids who couldn't drop big bucks on the popular Ibanez', Kramers & Jackson/Charvels of the day. Dropping the Vester line was one of the first things that I did when I took the job. I'm sure that a few playable guitars escaped the factory, but 95% of all of the Vesters that my store sold ended up coming back sooner or later. Horribly warped & twisted necks were the biggest problem.

If you found a good Vester, count yourself among the lucky!

I have tried a few Vester when looking for a beater guitar. As set from the factory, they were very very unplayable. A friend had one he had setup and poliched some rough edges, and it was almost passable. Of course, for less than 100 euros for a used one you can have a guitar you can give as a present to your nephews later

I had one also

a cool Jackson looking one with crackled red to blue paint job.

It was ok, but Kahler Spyder trem sucks, and the guitar was damned heavy...

Not sure if it got impregnated with Lead or what.

I've actually had 2 or 3 Vesters over the years and I must have been one of the lucky ones because I never had problems with any of them. *shrugs* They weren't on par with Jems of course but I found them to be very playable for the price. At the time that's what was important to me and I found them to have a great bang to buck ratio. I've also always wondered why they went out of business.
