Vigier guitars

I've heard a lot of good things about these guitars. Anyone here tried one?

Living in France, it was way easier for me to try one, then it might be for people outside of France. I can tell you Vigier are the most incredible guitars I have EVER seen (including JEMs, high-end Les Pauls, Strats, PRS etc ...). They are all handmade, with a quality control that is just unbelievable !!! Really high end guitars, beautiful too.

You can check thel out at :

http://www.vigier.fr/France/Index.htm

and write an email, they will ask any question you could have. As far as sound goes, they usually come with Seymour Duncans, but, as they are handmade, I am sure you could pretty much ask for any pickup you want.

Unless you are a virtuoso, I wouldn't recommend the fretless metallic looking Vigiers (that Ron Thal plays for example), though

In my opinion, Vigier are among the least known but best guitars available.

For those who are not convinced, cjeck out user reviews at HC :

or better, try one !!!!!!!

Globbits, Take a trip round to Percy Priors in High Wycombe. They are the UK distributors!

I've been to Vigier's website a few times and have been very intrigued by them. Today, I was visiting a local high-end music shop in Orange, CA. They happen to stock Vigier, Suhr, Baker, and a few other high-end guitars & amps. AMAZING guitars. I played a few variations of the Excaliburs on hand. The necks were definitely a much thicker C-shape profile compared to the Jem necks. Fretboard radius was very flat. Fretwork was absolutely perfect. Tremolo: God like! I haven't played a system as fluid as this one before. My initial complaint would be that the trem bar sits at a much sharper angle away from the body, meaning you have to reach up with your fingers to grip it while you play (not very ergonomic). I'm sure you could simply bend the bar more to your liking. Other than that, impressive guitars. They feature a variety of bodywoods & finishs. If you can get your hands on one, give it a try. If you happen to live in Southern California, the store is Tone Merchants. Website is: http://www.tonemerchants.com. Call first to make an appointment. They do accept walk-ins, but the one-on-one treatment is nice especially if you have a lot of questions.
