Vintage Strat sound - without the hum

Hey all, I'm looking for a set of pups to replace the stock ones in an 80's MIJ Squier strat. I'd be looking for a vintage strat sound, without the hum. I'm thinking maybe Vintage noiseless . . . Thoughts?

Ooops, I probably should have put this in the pickups section.

Re: Vintage Strat sound - without the hum

I've got a set of Hot Noiseless pickups in my MIM strat, and I can't say enough good things about them. They really are Hot, and noiseless. The bridge pickup can really scream and purr when you need it to, but it's got more low-end definition than a standards Stratocaster bridge pickup while still screaming in the highs. One of my favorite aspects to this set is that they've got that amazing elusive quack and shimmer on cleans and even when distorted quite a bit. However, my favorite part of this set is that neck pickup; it does everything, and is BY FAR my favorite single coil pickup.

If you want more info on the set, have questions, or want sound clips, please feel free to PM me.

Looking into the Area 58/61 DiMarzios might be worthwhile also.

Re: Vintage Strat sound - without the hum

Some great pickups mentioned here, but noiseless can't ever quite match the vintage sound. Given that I don't used my strat for high gain stuff, I went for more traditionally made singles and haven't ever regretted it.
What is more important to you - the noiseless bit or the vintage tone?

Re: Vintage Strat sound - without the hum

Well I'm sure any pickups are quieter than the stock 80's strat pups. I could get a set of alnico V strat pups and just shield the **** out of the cavity. I guess the idea is to improve the tone, and reduce the noise. Well it's probably more of a noise thing. Maybe 60:40 noise reduction:tone?
