Weird new trem system

Hi,

I was flicking through a guitar magazine in the UK, and I saw a guitar (forgot what one it was) and it had like a dual floyd rose style trem... by dual I mean it had two trem arms and the bridge was cut in half so you could use one trem arm on the top 3 strings and the other on the bottom 3.

VERY weird... anyone else seen them?

Yeah I've seen it. I think you can lock one half of the system in one position whilst leaving the other floating as well as using both halves independently. I can't help thinking its one of those ideas that people will look back on and laugh at in a few years.

This is the one that I was refering to. Different to a Floyd but still has the split thing going on. The Floyd version looks way more sturdy to me. Two bars though? Like TenorKeith I have enough trouble dealing with one!!

Didn't Eddie Van Halen do that on one of his first "frankenstein" guitars back in the beginning? I seem to remember he had actually sawed a bridge in half to have it like that. Like one part was fixed, with maybe three strings floating...

He might've done something (I never heard that one), but sawing the bridge in half on a 2 pivot bridge would only ruin the bridge. *It might work on a standard 6 screw job, though...
