Weird trem arm angle

My tremolo arm is leaning back in the trem. The trem is perfectly level to that body also. I can t figure out why its like this. The problem is that the arm almost touches the body when I wind it in. Its too high on the pickup side, and way too low on the other side of the tremolo. I cant even put the bar in if I have the cable in the guitar because it hits the cable.

Heres a few pics.

The fact that you could identify the guitar by the bad trem arm isn't good news for Fender!

Re: Weird trem arm angle

I wish someone could redesign the fender trem so that the plate would be separate from the arm assembly so that it would be able to accept an arm like an OFR or an Ibanez.

Re: Weird trem arm angle

It's normal. It's because the trem on newer strats are set up to float from the factory. When you set them up flat to the body it causes this issue. I had the same thing when i set up my trem for push down only. Bend the bar a little. Just put it in a vice with a couple of blocks of wood. It will bend pretty easily. Either that or you can set it up to float which I will tell you right now will lead to tuning stability issues. I run my Strat with the trem sitting on the body with 5 trem springs. Stays in tune like a champ.
