What's a white bound body? Any good?

I've seen a couple guitars that are said to have a white bound body. Never heard of that before.
What kind of wood is it made of and is it any good?

See the whitish/goldish stuff around the body? That is binding, it is usually done with another piece of wood, or maybe mother of pearl, or abalone, or even ivory.

Ah, alright! I got a Ibanez that has that. I only knew it as 'binding' though.

I saw a Schecter Tempest and there was no information about the body wood, except it said: 'White bound headstock and body'. That's why I thought it was referring to the body wood.

Most white binding is plastic.
