Whats the worst electric guitar/bass you have ever played?

I would definetely have to say the worst guitar I have ever played was a rogue bass. The action was so high that you could easily stick your hand inbetween the 12th fret and the strings. The pick ups were weak, and every thing that could be loose was. It sounded god awful. Call it a hunch.... but I imagine all rogue instruments are equally awfull. Do you guys remember when Musicians Freinds went rogue crazy? They had sooo many ****ty guitars. What was that alluminum thing called?

I used to have an Eko bass that had once been the main object in an unofficial Norwegian championship in bass throwing.

The bass both looked and played like it had been thrown around a couple of times.

It wasn't all bad though. It was swirled
Well, not a real swirl, rather the finger painting type. Think I have a pic somewhere...

Worst guitar: No-name, 60s piece of crap my brother's friend had, or my brother's 3/4 size Epiphone Les Paul with a broken nut, and a tiny body, with one pickup (which sucks, and is somewhere between bridge and neck spot).

Worst bass: Peavey P-Bass copy.

Our singer has an old 'Rockster' guitar... The ones with the really tacky graphics on em.... This one has Judge Dredd on it, with the words 'Kick Ass' srewn across it, It is AWFUL!

Add to that that it has the worst Neck/Pickups/Bridge/Action/Frets that I've EVER played and you have your winner right here folks... I mean 'Kick Ass'? beat that one!

Got asked up on stage one night to play a song with a band that I hardly knew (of all things we did "Hard to Handle" by The Black Crows) I walked up and was handed a Carvin Tele running through a Peavey Butcher.
I put the guitar around my neck, look down and the action was so high I could put my hand between the fretboard and the 12th no problem. Intonation wasn't even in the ball park. The song started and for the lead they all turned and looked at me. It was awful. I'm sure I was red faced, I couldn't do anything.
I later found out the guitar had been left outside in the rain and was really badly damaged. It had a major twist in the neck and the truss rod was snapped. They thought it was funny to get people up and hand them that thing.

the band in my high school owned an old, beat-up Squier Bullet that was in such bad shape it was impossible to play. the neck was so warped so bad the truss rod had no effect anymore, and the frets were in horrible condition.

I did like its size though. the body was a little smaller than a Strat but uncontoured, had 2 humbuckers and a Tele neck.

A 1962 Silvertone I found in my high school's band storage room. It had 17 frets, 2 strings left (I can play Smoke On the Water! Alright!) with mile high action, plastic body "panels"... and get this.. 13 frets per octave! The 12th fret octave rang loud and clear immediately over the 13th fret. What a POS.

HAHAHA, great stories, guys!
I think the worst i've had the displeasure of playing has been my best friend's Hondo II acoustic and another old friend's Old Kraftsman Les Paul jr. copy. Those guitars were just... amazingly bad.

any BC Rich; are the bodies made of lead? and the necks tree trunks?

any Gibson, again, baseball bat necks.

not too fond of PRS either.

fenders are good for blues and that's it really.

jems and jacksons are all i really think are worthy of playing (for me.)

Jim Huxley tele. Instead of Jim Harley, who produced squier standard fender copies, they put Jim HUXLEY on the top in exactly the same blck transfer style to try and fool people. 3strings on the bottom of the neck, the strings on the top, and about an inch gap in the middle of the neck. Also the 22nd fret was so high that anything fretted above the 12th was also fretted at the 22nd.
(And i could do a two tone whammy by pushing the neck against the body!)

The funny thing is that some of those old POS guitars actually sound pretty cool... I have found a few old crapper guitars that have really unique tones, that could be applicable in certain situations. I find that alot with old pedals. I have an old arion analog delay that sounds really cool!

Someone I knew had a Peavey Tele copy that was absolutely awful. Literally unplayable, the frets were so lopsided that no matter how it was setup, you'd do things like press down at the 12th fret to have the 13th fret actually hitting the string. Bends were impossible because the lower frets weren't even, and would almost always mute the string somewhere as it slid across.

And this guitar was bought new. I didn't realize you could actually buy a guitar that horrid new.

Oh! A local music store has had a Richie Blackmore strat there for about 3 years on sale SUPER cheap for only $240 Canadian brand new! The problem is though, the scallops in the board are HORRIBLY flawed, they're offcentre. The frets are often INSIDE the scallops and some notes just can't be hit.

Even my first POS wanna bee gibson SG, with HUGE chunks missing from the body, FUCT up wannabe tremlo, OLD faded black, brownish humbuckers, that sucked ass. Plus the action was like an inch off the fret board, thing was soooo FUNNY! But hey i love it to death, wish i still had it... With out that, i wouldnt know the things i know today.
