Why no-one likes other signature models?

Ok so i know that most people here like the Jem, Js, and PGM signature guitars.

So why doesn't anyone like any other signature models?

Is it beacuse you think they look like cr@p?

Is it beacuse you don't like the artist that has their name on it?

Have you actually played one and found that it plays like S***?

or is it something else?

i would really like to know because i see people say that a certain signature model is cr@p without giving reason, you can't just hate a guitar.
There might be signature models out there that are better than Jems in terms of playability.

Im talking about models such as:
Mick Thompson model
Noodles model
Tom Delonge Strat
Benji Madden Music man
Andy Timmons Model
Apex Model
Billie Joe Armstrong Les Paul JR
Matt Banchard Model
Mike Mushok Model
ESP Kirk Hammett Model
Petrucci Music Man
Kerry King V
there just to name a few, The List Goes on..

Re: Why no-one likes other signature models?

I wouldn't say any others are crap, just not my taste. JEM's are my favourite guitars because they feel perfect to me and i really love the look of the guitar. I love my JS too, plays flawlessly and is so beautiful. I hope to get a PGM one day....but as i want the PGM100 that's a bit tricky

To me i think the RG shape is so perfectly proportioned, so naturally any signature off it is going to appeal to a degree. I wasn't so keen on the JPM as the graphics don't really appeal to me. Although i love the necks on them

So....other signatures don't appeal as the guitars don't really visually appeal to me, and as for playability i can get what i want in a JEM/RG shape guitar.

I don't buy signatures based on how much i like the artist, but how much i like the guitar

Hold on a second, I was just about to say 'because they don't suit me' but then I saw who you're giving as an example

I'm sorry, but I wouldn't give any of those douches my money and who'd trust any of those to design a guitar anyway?

So i take it your saying: "If the artist is a douche therefore the guitar must be a douche"
So what i get from you point is that:
So beacuse Mick thompson plays and has an RG all RG'S are Douche's.
So beacuse Benji Madden has a Music Man all music men are Douche's.
I say ALL beacuse lets face it the sigs are just a tad Different from the stock models.

They were just a few that popped into my head at the time. I wasn't saying just these models but ALL signature models.

She probably didn't sit there by herself and say i want that, that and that.

She probably had some guy from squire ask her questions that would give her what she wanted.
Eg:"what colour do you want?", "What do you want the neck to be made out of?" I doubt half the artists actually design their signatures right down to every square inch by themselves, they have some guy asking them what they want.

That's a pretty big assumption to make. What I was saying was:

A) I wouldn't buy those guitars because I don't like the artist and don't think they're deserving of my money, which leads to..

B) I can get practically the same guitar as those people, IF I wanted but for cheaper since it doesn't have their name attached.

and

C) Because quite frankly, not everybody knows Vai, Gilbert, etc. so playing their guitars won't get you labelled as easily as a wannabe. You've just picked a bunch of commercial names, so playing their guitar is gonna make you look like a wannabe straight off of the bat.

Fair enough, I see you point
You don't like a guitar beacuse of the artist.
No problems.

Re: Why no-one likes other signature models?

That's not my point at all.

I wouldn't buy one of those guitars not just because of the name, but because the guitar would have to suck (and the aesthetics don't help either.)

If the guitar was good the guitar is good regardless of the artist. I'd just seek out a guitar that was close to it, IF I was desperate.

Re: Why no-one likes other signature models?

i wouldn't get a mick thonpson or noodles model because they're both korean made. that easy :P
but, to answer in general as your question was intended:
The JS is appealing for the discontinued radius shape , it's somewhat special. others... modded stock models, more or less cosmetically.

i personally don't like signatures.
i like signatures that have something special on them playability wise;
for example: The JS Radius body (radius is not available anymore)
the special designed MM Petrucci
unique pickup config + shape of the MM Morse

i dont like the punkrock guitars, they're mostly stock models stripped to one humbucker...
i dont like RG signatures, becase they're all pretty much RG's with custom cosmetics.

PLEASE don't flame me for this, but i'd never buy a new JEM7VWH if i can get a new J custom which has the same inlay and in my opinion a 1000times nicer finish and all it lacks is a "JEM Series" sticker on the headstock.
i repeat THAT'S MY PERSONAL TASTE! I understand that lots of you prefer different setups, that's why there's so many guitars around right

http://www.ibanezregister.com/Galler...l-rgpb-tom.htm this is a signature RG that has more to offer than just some finish and name stickers
