Re: wth

I've seen all kinds of fakes both on the bay and on websites. It's sad.

Re: wth

Thats one of the reasons i'll only buy Ibanez guitars because I can spot a fake one. But when it comes to any other i've no idea.

I can't tell its a fake, don't know what to look for in Gibsons.

Apart from this seems cheap of course.

Re: wth

They've been doing that for at least as long as the fake Jems. There are actually web store that sell them too, it's not just the bay.

Usually the fake Gibsons have 3 screws in the TR cover, completely goofy serial numbers, the cutaway is wrong, they are offered in colors no Gibson is made in, and the pictures have clear Gibson stickers on the pickups. Sometimes knob placement is off, and the "Gibson" inlay is either placed too high or just not correct. It may even say Gibsun.

Re: wth

And the "Les Pauls" that are being sold are NOT arched in anyway. Flat as a pancake, lol. If I wanted "fake" I would have kept my Hondo II, lmao!!!

Re: wth

Fake Gibsons have been around forever. Lawsuit 70's Ibanez's, etc.

The only difference now, is that the majority of the replicas suck. The Lawsuit Ibanez Les Pauls were every bit as good as Gibsons. Well, they said "Ibanez" on the headstock, as well.

Re: wth

One of my brothers got a fake Gretsch about three years ago, so Ibanez definitely weren't the first to be targeted. Ibanez is just the obvious manufacturer to be mentioned here. I have a $10 Les Paul copy at home, I'll have to post a pic
