Yamaha adjustable nut

Guys,

have a question here. I read in other threads here that Yamaha have a special kind of adjustable locking nut. The nut can be adjusted for height.

Now, I have one RGX-420S (2003 model, great guitar for the money btw). The nut have more screws than there is on my prestige ibanez. there's two big screws to keep the nut in place, plus 4 other smaller ones which i believe are to adjust that thingy.

i tried, but do not seem to be able to adjust it? how actually to adjust those?

Thanks.

Re: Yamaha adjustable nut

Shim it or grind it down. That's the options you have.

Whaa?!

If it's the Yamaha adjustable nut you don't have to shim it or file it. The reason you can't adjust it is because it's locked down right now. So you have to loosen up the screws that hold it in place, and then you should be able to adjust the others.

As a sidenote, they don't sound the best because they're just sitting on little screw tips rather than making strong solid contact, but that's just the open notes.
