You favorite SSS Strat Under 1k?
In your own personal opinion, what is your favorite Strat or Strat copy for under $1000?

Re: You favorite SSS Strat Under 1k?
Well, I got my American Dlx. Strat for $1100, so does that count?
It's my best
playing guitar
and was a special gift from my dad. I'll never let it go.

Re: You favorite SSS Strat Under 1k?
Yea give or take a hundred is fine. I'm looking to open up my arsenal with a fairly standard strat and right now it's down to a
Carvin Bolt
-T (750 with case), a G&L Legacy (1050 with Case), or a 2008 Fender American Standard (1000 with case). Any more options that you guys would like to throw out there?

Re: You favorite SSS Strat Under 1k?
Those look nice but I'm kinda strapped for time, I have a line of gigs coming up in about a month that I will need this guitar for (along with CD release parties) and there aren't many on the bay in decent condition for the price. I'll be playing mostly Indie / Pop rock with this guitar (think Cat Power, Minus the Bear). I'm open to suggestions for great Telecasters as well. My main focus is tuning stability, 22 frets and a great full tone in the
neck pickup
.

Visit your local pawn shops, sure craigslist, and your local music stores used sections.
And I have never heard of those bands lol.

Re: You favorite SSS Strat Under 1k?
I just got a hot tip on an Edwards at a local shop so I'm going to go try that out in a minute. Any tips on what to look for in terms of quality giveaways? I'm not familiar with standard strats so I wouldn't know what to look for in the bridge, finishes etc. Thank you for your help btw!

Re: You favorite SSS Strat Under 1k?
The
noiseless pickups
kick arse. I prefer the two pivot trem but vintage is ok. Then just the usual stuff.

Would a Deluxe American be a good choice as well, as Waylay stated?

I would try to play before you buy. Before I bought mine, I demoed quite a few, and they all each had their own unique characteristics (some bad, some good).

I can't recommend a new American Standard Strat enough. It has exactly the feel and tone I've been looking for for the last 10 years.

Re: You favorite SSS Strat Under 1k?
the 2007 american standard strat seems to be a steal at the moment as places are trying to get rid of it to stock the 08 models. i was in a shop today which was selling one for £599, i would have bought it there and then if it wasnt black with rosewood

Re: You favorite SSS Strat Under 1k?
Yes, you can't go wrong with an American Standard. The 07 is a great guitar, and the 08 should be too. If you are particularly interested in the noiseless pickups and have the extra cash, you could go for the American Deluxe. Everybody needs a good Strat ... or six.
