Yummy Strat Plus Deluxe Goodness and Vintage Tone Boxes
Picked up a 93
Strat Plus Deluxe
last week. I am in love with Lace Sensor Pickups. Thought I would share this good 3bay story with this guitar.
I got it with a buy it now. Seller said with BIN it was free shipping, due to how it had it set up I could not delete the shipping cost but he quickly refunded it. The night it came in I didn’t have a lot of time to check it out but at first glance it appeared as described, "near perfect" so I left a positive feedback. The next night when I had plenty of time to check it out I was a bit dismayed considering I had already left feedback. It had bad frets, bit of strange gouges in the fretboard in two places, dings on the headstock, freaking weird green grime/stuff on the fret edges, and one/two dings on the body. Well all I could do at this point was email the seller and let him know he should be a “bit more descriptive” in future auctions. In addition in the future I would not leave feedback until I had thoroughly checked out a purchase.
I was quite surprised when he responded and asked how I wanted to handle it. He offered to accept a return with full refund or resolve the matter in any way that I wanted. He said he wanted me to be happy with my purchase/deal and would do all he could to make that happen. We agreed to a partial refund to cover the cost of the fretwork needed and what the guitar should have cost. I must say he really earned my respect and gratitude. I can’t express how cool he was to deal with.
I took it in to have a fret level and dressing. I got it back, set it up, and damn it sounds and plays nice. The Red (bridge), Silver (middle), and Blue (neck) pick ups really have great tone and sustain. The locking bridge (Fender Floyd Rose) and the LSR roller nut make a great stay in tune combo.
I had gear gas so I went for some pedals too. The Boss
Fender Deluxe Reverb
and Bassman pedals give a really sweet tone. I am not in to massive gain anymore and they fit the bill.
Nuff typing for now. Here are the Pics. Damn pretty ain’t it!

Oh, it came with a factory installed
Hipshot Tremsetter
but I took it out and put in a reg
String Tree
. I never really liked that Tremsetter much.

Re: Yummy Strat Plus Deluxe Goodness and Vintage Tone Boxes
That is really NICE CD. That piece of wood is just easy goin on the eyes and I could stare at it for hours. What a great 3bay seller story man. We definitely need more people with integrity like that on the bay (of course, it should've been described accurately in the first place). I hope you enjoy the pie outta that strat. I know I'm enjoying my new one enough that I'm not picking up another axe anytime soon, lol. Ooops, ..this is "jemsite". Sorry. lol Right alongside my new strat is my custom
Herc swirl
which happens to be the best
playing guitar
I own, ...but it's had extensive setup and fret "Pleck-ing" so it's perfect.
Anyway, Congratz on that strat man!

Totally - although the Goild Anodised Aluminium scratchplate eould look wonderful against the blonde - white pearloid might look a bit washed out - tortoiseshell belongs on basses, eh?

Did you take a picture of the green grime? I had that on the edges of my
strat plus
under the clear and I simply wound up scrapping the clear off the edges and then cleaned it. Afterwards, it came off nicely. I think it's just the frets reacting with the clear (at least that's what I thought in my case since mine has a
maple neck
).
Tell me how you like that locking trem Cosmic. I've been thinking about replacing the one on mine just to try it.
I still think I got you both you and cid beat on looks with my strat

No didn't take a picture but it was a smooth texture almost like a thick lubricant or waxy substance. Mine and Cids are nicer cause rosewood is sessy.
