10 Things You Wish You Knew About Guitars (Before You Bought One.)
Hi, I'm Ava, the blog moderator for Jemsite's newest community blog. I've been asked to write a short blog post for another blog on 10 Things You Wish You Knew About Guitars (Before You Bought One) and I'd like to turn into a Jemsite user-friendly concept. (10 Things Jemsite Users Wish They Knew about Guitars (Before They Bought One.)
I wanted to make it informative, funny, and witty. So I'm asking the experts! What's one or two things you guys would you guys put on this list? If I use it, I'll try to give you credit in the post.
Thanks,
Ava

I'm still stuck at #1 - You Shouldn't Cross Post The Same Thread....

I didn't want to focus on one group and wanted to include members of the entire spectrum. That's why I cross posted. Sorry for not following your rules. Thanks for being so nice.

I wish I would have known that I was never going to be very good at it so I wouldn't have wasted all these years and thousands of dollars trying to be cool.

only one thing = guitars are just a piece of wood with magnets.Nothing magical and no rocket science.Teens believe in myths without even think about them.I never accepted that TONE COMES FROM THE WOOD thing.I have 4 guitars with same pups(evos) and different woods.Recorded with the same amp and configurations they sound the same or at least human ears can't hear the difference.I showed it to dozens of friends even to no musicians and nobody heard a difference.
I'm MYTHLESS

Wow, I can hear the difference, and I know plenty of others that can too. Sounds like you run way too much distortion!

...or you're using a Line6! They're great amps but they seem to have that same 'every
guitar
sounds the same' effect.

So you can tell wich wood people are using ?
I don't think so or maybe....you're really a Phantom !
Only with a crystal ball people could tell wich wood people are using.
So IF there are differences they're useless and very subtle.

Well with my guitars I can definitely tell the difference between alder and basswood. The necks, pickups, etc are the same otherwise.
Oh and it's made me realise I love the sound of a guitar with an alder body and maple neck with maple fretboard. Now I've just got to build something to my specs.
Ibanez
don't have any RGs with alder body and maple neck/fretboard.

I know several guys who likely could (unless you used something extremely exotic)
But yeah I could give you a pretty good guess. But if you can't hear the difference at all you really need to turn down the gain and compressors.

What things do I wish I knew about guitars before I bought one? Well..
1. What the difference in feel between a fixed bridge and a floyd rose was.
2. Whether I preferred one or the other.
3. That it's more important to spend time on finding the right amp and sound first, then worry about the guitar later....
(no point in buying an expensive guitar to only realise that you don't want to practice cause you can't stand the way things sound)
4... don't know.

Maybe roll back on the gain a lil bit?
